Who am I

I am a postdoc researcher at UBC extragalactic group, led by Prof. Allison Man. My main job here is to build an IFU data analyses pipeline, which will support GIRMOS and other IFU instruments. I also support the research group in IFU data analyses, radio data analyses and so on. I have a broad research interests, from high redshift galaxies to nearby galaxy centers. I am now leading a campaign of a multi-wavelength study of star formation in nearby nuclear rings.

I recently graduated from McGill's Trottier Space Institute, working in the research group led by Prof. Daryl Haggard. Her group has a diverse research interests, including multi-messenger Astrophysics, gravitational wave source, globular clusters, super massive black holes and galactic centers. During my PhD, I worked on constraining star formation efficiency in nearby elliptical galaxies.

I grew up in Nanjing, China, while Montreal has become my second home since I moved here in 2011. I did my undergraduate studies in McGill University and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2016. After graduation, I worked as a junior Mechanical Engineer in a lighting company, LumenWerx, where I gained valuable experience in product design and supply chain management. I went back to academia in 2018 as a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering, worked on research projects related to Aerodynamics of wingtip vortices and graduated with a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2020. At that time, I made a change of course and decided to learn beyond the scope of Earth's atmosphere, towards stars and the universe.

Apart from work and study, I enjoy exploring all sorts of beauty through science, art, food and nature. Here is my personal album:
